Patrons
A patron shapes the soul of the upcoming chapter — they fill in a form about its main function, what the character must realise, and what feeling should remain after reading.
The Loop is a serial novel project where I write chapter by chapter and let readers vote on some details of the next one.
Each chapter has its own patron. The patron shapes the soul of the upcoming chapter — they fill in a questionnaire that sets important details: what the chapter's main function should be, what the character must realise, and what feeling should remain after reading.
For you, being a patron would mainly mean this:
- filling in the questionnaire for a specific chapter,
- being listed on the website as that chapter's patron,
- being mentioned in the YouTube video for the chapter,
- and then I write the next chapter based on your answers.
I originally wanted patrons to be mainly beginning authors, but I am happy to give a chance to anyone who wants to try something unusual.

I read a lot of famous novels... I look for inspiration in them for writing my book and for a break from real life. Being the patron of this book means a lot to me, because there's very little chance my book will ever get published.

- Move the mystery around the origin of Pulses forward. Make a character do something they would not expect of themselves.

- Someone leaves in the middle of a conversation.
- Conflict at the heart of the chapter
- They try to protect someone, but in doing so take away that person's chance to decide for themselves.
- Rhythm of the chapter
- Build tension, let it seem to fade, then strike again later.
- What is most unsettling about the Loop
- The Loop rewards a person precisely for what they should be ashamed of.

- A device that keeps working flawlessly even though chaos has taken over around it.
