The Loop · interactive serialized sci-fi novel

What would you do for two extra weeks of life?

In a world where human attention becomes a substance that prolongs life, famous poet Nox is losing both his wife and his audience’s favour, while dealer Vey searches for the person who once left her a store of rare Pulses. How much is Nox willing to sacrifice to stay on top? And why did the unknown donor choose Vey?

The story continues every two weeks. Readers vote on what happens next.

What happens in the next chapter?

The author doesn't decide alone. Every two weeks, readers vote on characters, motifs, and choices that shape the next installment.

Read or listen to the published chapters first — then your vote has context.

Who is the person behind The Loop?

Jan Kaluža

I'm Honza. In code I fix problems; in the book I add them — and in between I try to teach my two daughters how to solve the real ones.

I began inventing fantasy fairy tales for them years ago. Later I entered a manuscript in Hvězda inkoustu and placed third. That was the first time I realised my stories might interest someone outside our family.

What I enjoy most is connecting writing with things I love: software, electronics, web apps. That is why The Loop exists. And that is why, instead of another chapter, I sometimes build a fermenter with a resonant snail.

Of course I would be glad if my books were published someday. My greatest motivation, though, is the journey itself: inventing, experimenting, and sharing the making of the story with the people who read it.

So… hello. This is me.
